Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What types of grants do you specialize in?

We have worked with different types of nonprofit organizations ranging from religious to non-religious.  The Funding Magnet can help with small and large foundation grants, grants to corporations, and small government grants.

  1. How much do you charge to write a grant?

Our prices vary depending on the length and complexity of the project. After you reach out to us, we will set up a discovery call to learn more about your organization mission, visions, goals, programs, and funding needs. We will also touch on your organization’s grant history as well as your current needs. This will assist in providing a quote for the proposed work or project. If along the way, we think the price will exceed the original estimate, we’ll notify you as soon as possible and discuss how to proceed. We strive to never surprise you with the invoice amount.

  1. Do you work on commission?

No. It’s considered unethical for grant writers to work on commission. We require payment before and after the project is complete depending on the payment arrangement we sign, regardless of the outcome.

  1. My nonprofit is brand new or under 2 years in operations. Can we apply for grants?

It can be very difficult for new nonprofits to successfully apply for a grant since a lot of funders look for a long track record of success as part of the grant review process before even considering your application.  Most funders usually ask for at least two to three years of financial records as a requirement for submission. Due to limited grant money, the majority of the funders fund the nonprofits with high success track records. Nevertheless, there are some exceptions to this and so during our discovery call, we will go over this with you and provide alternative suggestions in raising funds. If we believe, it is more beneficial for your nonprofit to wait a while before seeking grants, we can work with you to help you work towards being ready to submit successful grant proposals and getting funded.

  1. Can we work together even if we are not located in the same city, country or continent?

Absolutely Yes! We work virtually with most of our clients, using emails, video calls, apps and phone calls to communicate. The Funding Magnet have served clients in more than 4 different countries, three different continents, and over 15 cities. We have perfected a process that we utilize to ensure we’re efficient and effective at gathering everything we need to write a highly competitive and successful grant application.

  1. Do you provide other development services beyond grant research and writing?

The Funding Magnet offer nonprofit consultancy to assist with strategic and business planning, board development, social media giving campaigns, capital campaigns, individual giving campaigns, and annual fundraising services. This provides a more holistic approach to raising funds for nonprofits that need assistance and guidance in these areas.
